Spring is also a good time to make sure your irrigation or sprinkler system is in good working condition, and that lawn tools and equipment are ready for the upcoming busy season.

Be aware too that any season is the right time to make sure your shrubs and trees are properly mulched in order to moderate temperatures, maintain soil moisture, deter weeds, and enhance the attractiveness of your yard. One caution: mulching directly against the trunks of trees and ornamental plants can lead to crown rot.

The spring months are also one of the best times of the year to install new landscaping. New trees and shrubs can be installed, existing beds renovated and older overgrown material transplanted to a more suitable location.
